A Question of Perspective

When you’re on the ground and looking at things close up, it’s often difficult to get a good grasp of the nature of the beast. The Relay For Life Clothing Fair 2010 is a lot like that. My first glimpse of it was on the ground at the New Delhi region.

Charming little village but as I looked around, I realized how much I wasn’t seeing.

It didn’t take me long to realize that the fair this year was bigger than ever. With eight regions themed for the fashion capitals of the world, there’s bound to be something for everybody.

It didn’t matter where I stood, I couldn’t get a good look at all of it. Perhaps because there was just too much to see. The central plaza in the Entertainment region is filled with sculpture and festooned with stages.

But even from there, you can’t really see everything. There’s just too much to see. I tried getting up high enough to see over the whole region. Somebody said this guy’s name was Nelson. He looked like a Nelson to me.

But even from way up there, I couldn’t really get a sense of the thing. It was too big — just too vast to take in from a single vantage point. Or at least that’s what I thought until I came to a small corner of the middle region. That’s when I really saw the big picture and I got a very clear picture of what the Clothing Fair is all about.

Yes, it really is a question of perspective.

In_Memoriam

Thank you to all the people who have worked so hard to make the Clothing Fair one of the premier events in SL. As we spend the next nine days celebrating and enjoying the creations that are gathered here for this special time, remember that every linden you spend goes to a worthy cause.
